When I first decided to take
Entrepreneurial Journalism, I didn't really know what to expect. Now that we are nearing the end of the first class, I have a better idea of what I might learn, but feel no more comfortable with the subject matter than I did when I abstractly guessed at what it was I might be learning. My background, first and foremost, has always been writing, and now more recently, editing. Topics like pittches, business models, analytics and budgets have never been my forte, but with this course, I think that I am going to learn valuable information. Though the process might be painful, through it, my dream of starting a magazine may actually be attainable.
So, here is my blog, where I will detail the ups and downs of getting a crash course in entreprenurial journalism. Through it, I will share my thoughts about the changing profession of journalism and the way that students like myself must learn to adapt with the changes, rather than fight them.
My hope is that by the end of this course, I will feel more comfortable with the business industry and have some ideas that could potentially become a reality, with the knowledge of how to implement them.
Enjoy!
